ARE THESE TWO-WAY RADIOS TOUGH ENOUGH FOR MY WORK ENVIRONMENT?

Look for our rugged, dust proof, water proof and heat resistant options with noise-protection accessories.

Let's face it, if farming didn't get dirty sometimes, it wouldn't be fun and you wouldn't be doing it. You face different environmental conditions all of the time and need reliable communication equipment that will still work if your hands are covered in grease and your truck cab is filled with dust because your new hired hand left the window open when you were unloading your combine.

That is why the two-way radios that we carry are designed to meet military standards for ruggedness. We have options that are completely dust and waterproof.

If the dust and dirt aren't bad enough, you have to communicate over the loud rumble of the tractor engine and auger. For these types of environments, we offer noise protection and noise-cancelling audio options headsets that allow you to communicate clearly without risking damage to your eardrums. This also means higher productivity and fewer errors.

If flammable dust is a concern, look into our Intrinsically Safe (IS) options.

WHY WOULD I NEED RADIOS IF EVERYONE ON THE FARM HAS A CELL PHONE?

Durability, greater coverage, push to talk = safety and convenience.

Everyone on the farm has a cell phone these days, so is it necessary to invest in additional communication equipment such as two-way radios?

It really depends on your farming situation and your communication needs. There are a few areas where cell phones can fall short, and a radio system may be a better option:

Durability: simply put, cell phones aren't built to handle dust, water, and other elements you see on the farm every day. Read above for more info

Greater Coverage: Depending on where your farm is located, you may have some areas without cell service. In these areas, it is nice to know you can still get a hold of somebody on the radio if you need to.

Push to talk: Taking the time to make a phone call when trying to coordinate operations on the farm isn't always the best option. In emergency situations, for example, the 10 seconds you would save by calling on a radio rather than with a phone could be the difference between life and death.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN COMMERCIAL-GRADE TWO-WAY RADIOS AND RECREATIONAL RADIOS THAT ARE SOLD AT SPORTING GOODS STORES?

Although the smaller, inexpensive, GMRS radios may look similar to the two-way radio systems that we sell, there are several key differences:

Privacy: Allocated frequencies in commercial-grade two-way radios allow for private, uninterrupted conversation

Range: The range on GMRS radios is very limited. Often the real range is significantly lower than that which is advertised

Antenna: Commercial radios offer high-quality customized antenna solutions to suit your vehicle.

Durability: Commercial radios are built with rugged casings to keep out dust and water, and a metal chassis built to take abuse

Accessories: Extensive accessory options for hearing protection, ease of use and hands-free communication are available on most commercial-grade two-way radio systems
